Good Housekeeping Cookery Book

This was an interesting project, as a friend from my local Art Club asked if i could repair an old cookbook which had belonged to her grandmother and mother, and which she wanted to pass on to her children. This was my first attempt at repairing such a book. I could not restore the original spine so had to create new covers and use a different binding. We had several meetings to discuss the requirements before i cut the existing thread and set about repairing and re-sewing the book. It was also the largest book i have worked on which brought about its own challenges, but i really enjoyed restoring this book.

Birthday Present for Daughter in Australia

This commission from fellow artist, Sheila, was for a birthday present for her daughter in Australia. There was a strict deadline on this present was being personally delivered on the first visit after lockdowns. The cover was painted by Sheila, and we met to agree on colour schemes, and internal detailing. The book was very well received by both Sheila and her daughter. It feels great to think there is already one of my books on the other side of the world!
